How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    ROLE OVERVIEW

    A leading company in the mining industry is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their team at Boulby Mine, North Yorkshire. This 6-month fixed-term contract offers a unique chance to be part of a pioneering operation in the production of polyhalite, a multi-nutrient fertiliser marketed as Polysulphate. As the Laboratory Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting analytical testing and quality control activities across mining and production operations.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Your duties as the Laboratory Technician will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

    1. Conduct routine laboratory analysis on polyhalite, fertiliser products, and rock salt samples.

    2. Perform chemical and physical testing in line with internal quality standards.

    3. Prepare samples, reagents, and calibration standards.

    4. Accurately record and report data using laboratory information systems.

    ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

    To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Laboratory Technician we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

    1. Relevant degree in Chemistry, Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

    2. Proven industry experience in a laboratory or analytical environment.

    3. A working knowledge and practical experience with basic chemistry and analytical techniques.
