How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About Us

Women’s Work Lab exists to support mums to (re)start their careers and build the confidence, skills and networks to move forward.

Many of the mums we work with have faced significant barriers to employment. That might be domestic abuse, caring responsibilities, mental health challenges or simply being out of work for a long time. Whatever their story, they arrive with huge potential and our role is to help unlock that.

Our 12-week core HIVE programme combines training, connection and work placements, followed by ongoing support for up to one year. The impact is real and lasting not just supporting movement into work, but building confidence, identity and community.

And we get results! Outcomes for participants include new careers, further training and crucially the creation of a vital support network. Over 70 percent of our 2024/25 graduates are either in jobs, training or volunteering.

WWL is now a team of 18 and we’re running programmes in Bristol, Bath, South Gloucestershire, Somerset and Birmingham.

    About the Role

This role sits at the intersection of supporting mums and working with employers. You will build relationships, spot opportunities and help women move towards meaningful, sustainable work.

No two days will look the same. One moment you may be supporting a mum to strengthen her CV or prepare for an interview, the next you could be speaking with employers, coordinating opportunities or creating partnerships that support pathways into work.

You will also support the planning and coordination of placements, employability sessions, workshops and webinars designed to help mums build confidence, develop skills and better understand the world of work. This may include liaising with guest speakers or employer partners, helping organise session delivery, supporting group spaces and ensuring mums feel welcomed, prepared and engaged throughout.

This is a people-focused, fast-moving role that needs someone proactive, organised and confident in building relationships. We are looking for someone who genuinely cares about outcomes for women, understands the realities of recruitment and employment, and can balance empathy with practical support.

As a growing organisation, this role will continue to evolve. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with change, willing to try new approaches and excited to help shape what this role can become.

What This Role Really Needs (Skills & Behaviours)

    1. Proactive and Adaptable

You spot what needs doing and take action

    • You are comfortable when plans change last minute
    • You can juggle different priorities without losing momentum
    • You stay motivated even when things are busy or unclear.

    2. Strong Relationship Builder

You enjoy working with people and people trust you.

    • You can build rapport quickly with employers and mums and the wider team
    • You communicate clearly, warmly and confidently
    • You are comfortable reaching out, networking, following up and maintaining relationships with external partners
    • You understand that strong relationships create meaningful opportunities.

    3. Understanding of Employers and Recruitment

You understand what employers are really looking for and can translate that into practical support for mums.

    • You have a good awareness of how recruitment works (e.g. CV screening, interviews, hiring needs)
    • You can help mums tailor their CVs and approach to meet real employer expectations
    • You are confident communicating with employers and understanding their needs
    • You can spot opportunities and match the right candidates to the right roles
    • You understand the importance of both participant and employer experience and can help placements run smoothly, proactively resolving issues and maintaining strong communication.

    4. Supportive but Practical

You care about people and outcomes.

    • You can support mums with CVs, interviews and confidence
    • You can give honest, constructive guidance
    • You can support mums with confidence, motivation and next steps.

    5. Organised and Coordinated

You keep things moving behind the scenes.

    • You can manage multiple moving parts including employers, mums, events and placements
    • You are comfortable with admin, systems and tracking progress
    • You follow through and make sure things happen
    • You are comfortable supporting sessions and stepping in when needed.

    7. Comfortable with Change and Growth

This role is not fixed — and that’s intentional.

    • You are open to developing the role over time
    • You are willing to try new approaches and learn quickly
    • You are comfortable working in a growing organisation.

    What You’ll need to Bring:

    • Experience in recruitment, employer engagement, employability or a role involving employer relationships is essential. You understand what employers look for and feel confident translating this into practical support for women.
    • An understanding of recruitment processes or experience working with employers
    • Confidence in communicating with a range of people
    • Strong organisational skills
    • A proactive mindset
    • Comfort with change and flexibility
    • A genuine commitment to supporting women into work
    • You don’t need to be a trainer, but you are confident being around group delivery.
    • You should be digitally confident, with skills including hosting webinars, online communications with team members and external stakeholders, and maintaining accurate database records.

    Location and hours

30 hours per week with flexibility around how these are worked (role commences at 20 hours per week until September 1st).   These hours will include core hours of 09:30 - 14:30 on your working days.   You will need to be present throughout the programme delivery dates (all programmes are run in term time only).

Programmes are delivered in person across the West of England, so you will need to be able to travel to locations. There is also a mix of remote working and time with the team in our central Bristol office.

    Salary and benefits

£32,500 FTE  (this is £26,000 pro-rata for a 30 hour week) plus pension, statutory holiday, birthday leave and Christmas closure (or alternative cultural days).
