Gravitas is partnering with an international consumer electronics company as they establish and grow their UK operations, and is looking for a Manchester-based Solicitor to act as their key legal representative in the UK market.
In this role, you will work closely with external UK law firms and internal stakeholders to drive anti‑counterfeiting enforcement, manage enforcement actions, and protect the business’s intellectual property and brand. You will also draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts with UK counterparties, ensuring the business operates in full compliance with UK law.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the company’s UK legal representative, working with external law firms and internal teams to plan and execute anti‑counterfeiting operations.
- Draft, review and negotiate legal documents and commercial contracts with UK organisations across a variety of business scenarios.
- Monitor the progress of legal cases and contract performance, resolving issues that arise from cooperation, enforcement and rights‑protection work.
- Proactively identify compliance risks and provide clear, practical legal advice to support lawful and commercially sound decision‑making.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external law firms, enforcement bodies and business partners, ensuring effective long‑term collaboration.
About You
- In-house Legal Counsel from a consumer products, electronics or FMCG business with exposure to commercial contracts, trademark enforcement and brand protection; or a solicitor from a Commercial/IP, IP Litigation or Brand Protection team looking to move in-house.
- Strong knowledge of UK laws and regulations.
- Solid experience in commercial law, with exposure to intellectual property and anti‑counterfeiting/infringement matters.
- Confident drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and able to independently manage day‑to‑day legal work.
- Familiar with IP protection and anti‑counterfeiting procedures; hands‑on experience running or supporting enforcement actions is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with your career built in the UK and a strong understanding of local legal practice, business culture and stakeholder expectations.
- Strong logical thinking, communication and negotiation skills, with a high level of personal accountability.
