How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is a full-time, permanent position offering strong practical exposure across a diverse, multi-site environment. The successful candidate will support the delivery of health, safety, environmental, and compliance standards across MCR Group’s operational service areas, including cleaning, security, landscaping, personnel solutions, facilities services, and construction-related environments.

Reporting to the Health & Safety Executive, the Junior Health & Safety Officer will play an important frontline role in supporting site inspections, compliance monitoring, safety documentation, incident follow-up, and the continued development of a proactive safety culture across the organisation.

This is primarily a office & field-based role and will require regular travel to client sites throughout the Republic of Ireland. A company vehicle will be provided in line with company policy.

    Candidate Profile

This position will suit an ambitious Health & Safety professional who is looking to build a strong career in a practical, site-based QHSE environment.

The successful candidate will be professional, organised, confident, and capable of working across multiple sites while maintaining high standards of communication, documentation, and follow-through. They will have a genuine interest in Health & Safety and the ability to engage positively with people at all levels of the organisation.

    Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support the QHSE Department in a varied and operationally focused role. Responsibilities will include:

    * Carrying out scheduled and unannounced site inspections across client locations

    * Assessing compliance with health, safety, environmental, client, and company requirements

    * Identifying hazards, unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviours, and areas for improvement

    * Preparing clear and accurate site visit reports

    * Tracking corrective actions through to completion

    * Supporting the preparation and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements

    * Assisting with Safe Plan of Action documentation and permit-to-work requirements

    * Supporting Toolbox Talks, safety briefings, and employee engagement initiatives

    * Promoting near-miss and hazard reporting through the company’s Good Catch initiative

    * Supporting incident, accident, and near-miss investigations

    * Liaising professionally with clients, site management teams, supervisors, and frontline employees

    The ideal candidate will have:

    * Minimum Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, or NEBOSH General Certificate

    * Some practical experience in a Health & Safety, compliance, operational, construction, facilities, or multi-site environment

    * Good working knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation

    * Exposure to Risk Assessments and Method Statements

    * Full, clean Irish / EU driving licence

    * Strong written and verbal communication skills

The following would be advantageous but not essential:

    * Experience carrying out site inspections or compliance audits

    * Exposure to construction, facilities management, or multi-site operations

    * Safe Pass (training can be provided)

    * IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent

    * Manual Handling Instructor qualification

    * Experience with permit-to-work systems

    * Knowledge of ISO 45001 or similar management systems

You should be comfortable travelling, meeting new people, asking questions, and helping teams understand safety in a practical and positive way.
