How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Veterinarian | Big Country. Big Opportunity. Real Impact. | Alberta, Canada. $115-$175 DOE.

    Not every vet role lets you influence the health of thousands of animals, work alongside progressive producers, and still finish early enough to enjoy your life outside of work.

    This one does.

    Sunny South Veterinary Services is an independently owned large animal practice based in Lethbridge, Alberta, right in the heart of Canada’s cattle country. With more than a million head of cattle within 100km of the practice, this is an opportunity to step into genuine production medicine and become a trusted advisor to some of the most progressive livestock operations in Western Canada.

    This is not “farm calls all day and firefighting emergencies all night.”
    The focus here is herd health, prevention, data, strategy, and long-term client relationships. You’ll work closely with feedlot and calf ranch clients helping improve health outcomes, productivity, welfare, and overall performance across large-scale operations.

    You’ll still get hands-on veterinary work too, surgeries, diagnostics, investigations, treatments, import/export inspections and field service, but the bigger picture matters here. This is the kind of role where your recommendations genuinely shape how an operation performs.

    What makes this role stand out?

    * Salary from CAD $115K–$175K depending on experience.

    * Monday–Friday hours (8:30am–4:30pm).

    * Limited weekday after-hours.

    * 1 in 5 weekends.

    * Company vehicle, mobile phone, laptop and equipment provided.

    * CE + professional dues fully covered.

    * RRSP contributions and health benefits.

    * Long-term ownership opportunities for the right person.

    * New grads welcome with proper support and mentorship.

    You’ll join 5 veterinarians, vet nurses, veterinary assistants and a large support crew who genuinely enjoy working together. It’s practical, collaborative, hardworking, and refreshingly ego-free.

    The clinic has built its reputation on trusted relationships, reliability, and helping producers make informed, commercially smart decisions that genuinely improve outcomes. Without endless layers of management and corporate nonsense, this is a place where decisions are made quickly and ideas are encouraged.

    Location perks, (because life matters too)

    Lethbridge gives you the rare balance of career opportunity and breathing room.

    A city of around 110,000 people, it has everything you actually need, cafés, gyms, restaurants, sport, shopping and a strong community feel, without the traffic, cost, or chaos of a major city.

    And then there’s what surrounds it.

    Within 90 minutes you can be hiking in Waterton Lakes National Park, skiing fresh powder in the Rockies, mountain biking river valleys, golfing in the coulees, or exploring some of the most beautiful landscapes in Canada. Southern Alberta gets more sunshine than almost anywhere else in the country too, which locals are always very happy to remind you about.

    So, what’s next?

    If you want to build real expertise in feedlot and production medicine, work with progressive clients, and be part of a practice where your work genuinely matters, this could be the role that changes everything.

    Send your CV (even if it’s not up to date) or reach out with any questions. Great careers often start with a simple conversation.

    Bring your expertise, your personality, and your passion for great medicine, Sunny South Vets will provide the team, the support, and the lifestyle to match
