How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Workshop Engineer / Mechanical Assembly

    £35,000 per annum (rising to £38,000 after probation)

    We are working with a growing engineering and manufacturing company based in Essex who are looking to recruit a Workshop Engineer to join their technical team.

    This is a hands-on role working within an engineering workshop, supporting the assembly, testing and fault finding of electro-mechanical equipment used within commercial environments across the UK.

    This opportunity would suit someone with a mechanical, electrical or electro-mechanical background who enjoys practical engineering work and wants to develop their skills within a stable and growing business.

    Workshop Engineer responsibilities

    * Mechanical assembly of engineering equipment and components

    * Supporting electro-mechanical systems and hydraulic equipment

    * Testing equipment and systems before installation

    * Carrying out basic fault finding and reporting issues

    * Supporting general workshop activities including stock organisation

    * Completing workshop reports and technical documentation

    * Assisting the engineering team with technical support when required

    * Ensuring work is completed safely and in line with company procedures

    Key Experience / Skills

    * Background in mechanical, electrical or electro-mechanical engineering

    * Experience with mechanical assembly, maintenance or fault finding

    * Practical hands-on engineering skills

    * Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    * Good attention to detail and pride in quality of work

    * Full UK driving licence

    * Experience within manufacturing, engineering workshops, mechanical assembly or equipment repair would be beneficial.
