How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A respected and growing fire and security specialist is seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Engineer to join their established team covering the North East.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a Fire Alarm Engineer looking to work with a diverse client base across commercial, industrial, education and public sector environments.

    The successful Fire Alarm Engineer will be responsible for the service, maintenance, fault-finding and small works associated with a wide range of fire alarm systems. The company has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality life safety solutions and offers long-term career progression for an ambitious Fire Alarm Engineer.

    The Fire Alarm Engineer's Role

    The Fire Alarm Engineer will:

    Service and maintain fire alarm systems across a varied customer portfolio
    Diagnose and rectify faults efficiently
    Carry out small installation and remedial works when required
    Complete all relevant documentation and service reports
    Ensure compliance with current fire safety standards and regulations
    Provide excellent customer service whilst representing the business professionally
    Participate in an on-call rota as required

    The Fire Alarm Engineer

    The ideal Fire Alarm Engineer will have:

    Experience servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems
    Good fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
    Knowledge of conventional and addressable fire alarm systems
    Familiarity with BS5839 regulations
    FIA qualifications or equivalent training desirable
    Full UK driving licence
    Strong communication and customer-facing skills
    Ability to work independently and manage their own workload
