How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A specialist power generation business is seeking an experienced Generator Commissioning & Support Engineer to join its growing team, supporting critical power infrastructure projects across the UK.
    This role will focus on the commissioning, testing, and warranty support of standby power generation systems, primarily within data centre and critical infrastructure environments. It is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in diesel generators and power generation systems who is looking to join a business operating at the forefront of the sector.
    Key Responsibilities
    Commission and test diesel generator systems and associated controls
    Carry out warranty support, fault finding, and troubleshooting activities
    Support the installation and handover of generator systems on customer sites
    Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults
    Ensure equipment operates safely and in line with customer specifications
    Complete commissioning reports and technical documentation
    Provide technical support to customers and internal teams
    Travel to customer sites as required across the UKEssential Requirements
    Proven experience commissioning and supporting diesel generator systems
    Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
    Good understanding of generator control systems and synchronisation
    Experience working within critical power, data centre, or industrial environments
    Ability to work independently and manage site-based activities
    Full UK driving licence
    Willingness to travel as requiredDesirable Requirements
    Experience working with generator manufacturers such as Cummins, CAT, MTU, Kohler, FG Wilson, or similar
    Previous experience within data centre environments
    Knowledge of grid connection and synchronisation systems
