How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Key Responsibilities
    * Lead daily site operations, setting high standards for health, safety, quality, productivity and site presentation.

    * Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, RAMS briefings and ensure safe systems of work are followed.
    * Manage permits, temporary works controls, site records, training registers, QA documentation and inspection records.
    * Support programme delivery, look-ahead planning, sequencing, resource forecasting and progress reporting.
    * Maintain accurate daily records covering labour, plant, materials, progress, production and site activities.
    * Support the commercial team with measurements, subcontract works, cost awareness, CVR information and monthly reporting.
    * Liaise professionally with clients, designers, suppliers, subcontractors, third parties and internal teams while promoting a positive site culture.
    Candidate Requirements
    * Proven experience as a General Foreman delivering civil engineering schemes for a contractor.
    * Strong background in highways, drainage, road construction, structures, public realm, footpaths, cycleways or similar civils works.
    * Good understanding of temporary works, deep excavations, RAMS, QA, site records, programme delivery and health and safety procedures.
    * SMSTS or SSSTS, CSCS and a full UK driving licence are required.
    * Confined Space, NRSWA / Street Works and First Aid at Work would be advantageous.
    * Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and site reporting or digital QA systems.
    * Professional, organised and proactive approach, with strong communication skills and the ability to lead site teams effectively.
