How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client is a long-standing manufacturing business based in Hull. They are seeking a Multi Skilled Operative to join their friendly and hard-working team.

    As a Multi Skilled Operative your job will be to carry out production activities and operate a range of process plant and equipment including mechanical handling equipment such as OHC's Counterbalance forklift trucks, Shovel loaders and Backhoe type excavators in a heavy industry manufacturing environment.

    THE ROLE:
    Support Production Operations working under the Instruction of the Shift Supervisor to perform and complete assigned role/duties in a timely manner
    Recording of productivity and downtime data for Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) performance monitoring.
    Palletising of filled Tubs, Sacks & Boxes & transportation of empty pallets, packaging materials and finished product by forklift truck or pallet truck.
    Maintain accurate records of production input/output data
    Monitor & Evaluate equipment performance and recommend improvements

    Operate production plant and equipment, including:
    Hot fusion, casting and containment equipment
    Ingot handling, breaking and crushing equipment
    Material grinding and drying
    Finishing and sizing equipment
    Bulk discharge, transfer and filling equipment
    Material blending equipment
    Bag and Sack filling machinery

    Also, may be required to operate a variety of mechanical handling equipment (MHE) - subject to qualification/training - such as OHC, Backhoe type digger, Skid Steer loading shovel, Counterbalance Forklift trucks and Pallet trucks (both powered & manual).
    Completion of production batches in full, and ensuring that these are signed off by the QC lab
    Completion of Line set up & following work instructions for preparing Batches
    Conduct first line checks and follow instructions for batch corrections.
    Adhere to company health and safety standards at all times
    Hours of work: Rotating shift pattern, days and nights, average 40 hours pw over 3-week cycle

    THE CANDIDATE:
    Minimum 2 years' experience within a manufacturing environment
    Ability work effectively in a team and under own initiative with a flexible approach to Job rotation and Overtime working
    Ability to comprehend and safely operate production equipment and repetitive manual handling tasks
    Be able to demonstrate a high level of safety awareness and follow safe working procedures to ensure the safety of oneself and work colleagues
    Counterbalance forklift truck licence
    Good standard of general education. (Ideally minimum English and Maths at GCSE).
    NVQ Performing manufacturing Operations [preferred]
