Funeral Operative

Sammons Recruitment are seeking a Funeral Operative to join a professional and compassionate team based in Hastings.

This essential role plays a vital part in supporting bereaved families during their most difficult times, ensuring funeral services are delivered with dignity, care, and the highest level of professionalism.

This is a meaningful, hands-on role suited to individuals who take pride in their work, value teamwork, and understand the importance of sensitivity and respect in every interaction.

Job type: Full-time
Location: Hastings
Salary: £27,500 p/a 

Key Responsibilities:

Support funeral ceremonies with discretion, care, and professionalism
Coffin preparation and presentation
Carry out pall-bearing duties and funeral driving
Respectful removal and preparation of deceased individuals (excluding embalming)
Clean and maintain funeral vehicles to a high standard
Undertake additional duties as required by management 

Skills, Experience, and Essential Requirements:

Clean UK driving licence and access to own vehicle mandatory
Physical fitness to carry out lifting duties
Professional appearance and demeanour
Excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with bereaved families
Strong commitment to teamwork and dignity in all interactions
Non-smoker during working hours
