How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Description

    Culina Group is seeking a strategic and commercially minded Head of Sustainability to define and deliver our Group-wide sustainability and ESG strategy.

    This is a high-impact leadership role with responsibility for embedding sustainability into how we operate, invest, and partner with customers. You’ll translate ambition into delivery, driving measurable environmental and social outcomes while supporting commercial performance, operational resilience, and regulatory compliance.

    You will play a critical role in positioning Culina as a trusted, future-ready supply chain partner, enabling both the business and our customers to transition to lower-impact operations.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    Strategy & Leadership

    Define and lead the Group’s Sustainability & ESG strategy, aligned to business priorities and customer expectations
    Set clear ambitions, targets, and measurable outcomes, including decarbonisation goals
    Build and manage a multi-year roadmap of initiatives across the GroupProgramme Delivery & Impact

    Lead decarbonisation and climate transition programmes across warehousing and transport
    Drive energy efficiency, renewable adoption, fleet transition, and operational optimisation
    Advance resource efficiency, waste reduction, and circular practices across the businessGovernance & Reporting

    Establish sustainability governance, policies, and standards across the Group
    Develop an audit-ready ESG data capability covering carbon (Scopes 1–3), energy, waste, water, and social metrics
    Own sustainability reporting, disclosures, and external assurance aligned with UK/EU requirementsCommercial Integration

    Embed sustainability into investment decisions, business cases, and operational processes
    Partner with commercial teams to strengthen customer propositions through sustainability
    Support the business in meeting customer ESG expectations and requirementsSupplier & Stakeholder Engagement

    Drive responsible procurement and supplier engagement on ESG standards and emissions reduction
    Build strong cross-functional partnerships with operations, transport, engineering, procurement, finance, HR, and IT
    Lead internal engagement, capability building, and culture change across the organisation

    Qualifications

    Proven experience leading sustainability / ESG strategy within a complex operational environment (e.g. logistics, manufacturing, retail)
    Strong understanding of UK/EU sustainability regulation and disclosure requirements (e.g. SECR, CSRD/ESRS, ISSB/TCFD-aligned reporting)
    Hands-on expertise in carbon accounting and emissions reduction planning, including Scopes 1–3 and GHG Protocol methodologies
    Track record of delivering measurable sustainability outcomes (e.g. emissions reduction, resource efficiency, compliance) through structured programmes
    Strong data and systems capability—able to design ESG data models, reporting frameworks, and controls that stand up to audit
    Commercial and financial acumen, with experience building investment cases (capex/opex, ROI, total cost of ownership, marginal abatement cost)
    Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to embed sustainability into core business operations
    Experience driving responsible procurement and engaging suppliers on ESG performance and standards
    Knowledge of environmental management systems and compliance (e.g. ISO 14001 principles) and ESG risk management
    Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical sustainability topics into clear, compelling messages for different audiences
