How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Parkinson Gray Associates is working with an established building services engineering consultancy seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join its Manchester team.

    This is an opportunity to join a practice that has built its reputation on delivering thoughtful, high-performing buildings through close collaboration between engineers, architects and clients. Rather than treating engineering as a compliance exercise, the business places technical excellence, creativity and long-term building performance at the heart of every project.

    With a strong pipeline of work across multiple sectors, they are looking for an ambitious engineer who wants to develop their technical skills, contribute to meaningful projects and play an active role in project delivery.

    About the Consultancy

    Our client is an independently minded engineering consultancy with a long-standing reputation for delivering innovative building services solutions across the UK.

    The practice works on a wide variety of projects, ranging from complex refurbishments and heritage developments through to contemporary commercial, residential, education and public-sector schemes.

    Engineers are encouraged to contribute ideas, challenge conventional approaches and take ownership of their work from an early stage. The culture is collaborative, supportive and focused on continuous learning, making it an excellent environment for those looking to develop both technically and professionally.

    Sustainability, energy performance and long-term building value are central considerations throughout the design process, creating opportunities to work on projects that have a positive impact on the built environment.

    The Role

    As part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will assist in the design and delivery of electrical building services systems across a range of projects.

    Responsibilities will include:

    * Electrical design calculations, reports and technical specifications

    * Designing lighting, power and associated building systems

    * Coordinating with architects, structural engineers and other consultants

    * Supporting project delivery from concept through to completion

    * Attending client, design and coordination meetings

    * Carrying out site visits, surveys and inspections

    * Contributing to technical problem solving and design development

    * Supporting junior team members as your experience develops

    About You

    You will ideally have:

    * 3+ years' experience within a UK building services consultancy

    * Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or similar

    * Experience using Revit and electrical design software

    * A sound understanding of electrical systems within buildings

    * Knowledge of current regulations and industry standards

    * Strong communication and collaboration skills

    * A proactive and solutions-focused approach

    Applications are welcomed from candidates working towards professional registration or chartership.

    What's On Offer

    * Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience

    * Annual bonus

    * Hybrid and flexible working arrangements

    * Structured professional development

    * Support towards Chartership

    * Professional membership fees paid

    * Private healthcare

    * Pension scheme

    * Generous annual leave entitlement

    * Exposure to high-quality and technically challenging projects

    * Clear long-term progression opportunities
