How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location - Leicestershire Area
    Contract - Full-Time Temporary
    Pay - £16.62 Per hour PAYE (Inc Holiday) | £21.30 Per hour Ltd via Umbrella
    Hours – 37 per week Monday to Friday

    About the Job
    Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a respected local authority client for an experienced Tree Inspector to join their Forestry and Arboriculture team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified arboricultural professional to play a key role in managing tree safety, public risk, and environmental stewardship across a diverse portfolio of highways, public spaces, and council-owned land.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out detailed tree inspections, assessing tree health and structural integrity, maintaining inspection records, and supporting the management of tree-related risks. The role will also contribute to monitoring tree diseases, including Ash Dieback, and ensuring compliance with arboricultural best practice.

    Key Responsibilities
    Conduct routine inspections of highway and landowner trees to identify defects, hazards, diseases, and structural issues.
    Assess tree condition and determine appropriate remedial actions in accordance with industry standards.
    Investigate and establish tree ownership where defects pose a potential risk to public safety or property.
    Produce detailed inspection reports, technical recommendations, and site plans.
    Monitor and record the completion of remedial works and provide follow-up inspections where required.
    Maintain and update tree inventories, inspection records, and associated database systems.
    Undertake surveys and monitoring programmes relating to Ash Dieback and other tree pathogens.
    Issue work instructions to contractors and inspect completed works to ensure quality and compliance.
    Provide technical arboricultural advice to colleagues, stakeholders, contractors, and members of the public.
    Support wider forestry and arboricultural operations as required.
    Assist with emergency response activities, including occasional out-of-hours attendance during severe weather events or other incidents.
    Candidate Requirements
    Essential
    Level 3 Arboricultural qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent).
    Minimum of 4 years' practical and/or technical arboricultural experience.
    Strong knowledge of tree identification, tree biology, pathology, physiology, and visual tree assessment.
    Experience assessing tree defects, diseases, disorders, and structural safety risks.
    Ability to prepare accurate technical reports and maintain detailed records.
    Strong communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with members of the public, landowners, contractors, and stakeholders.
    Competent IT skills and experience using databases and digital record systems.
    Full UK Driving Licence.
    Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload across multiple sites.Desirable
    Level 4 Arboriculture qualification or equivalent.
    Arboricultural Association Technician membership or similar professional accreditation.
    Experience monitoring Ash Dieback and other significant tree diseases.
    Contractor supervision and work inspection experience.
    Attendance at relevant industry seminars, conferences, or CPD activities.
