Maintenance Supervisor (Mechanical)

Are you an experienced mechanical maintenance professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for safety, reliability, and continuous improvement? We’re looking for a Maintenance Supervisor (Mechanical) to coordinate and supervise maintenance activities within a designated plant area, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of all internal and contractor maintenance work.
This is a key role in supporting operational performance, equipment reliability, and legislative compliance across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in full compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, company policies, and procedures.
- Act as the main point of contact between the central maintenance function and production areas for both internal and contractor maintenance activities.
- Coordinate and supervise all mechanical maintenance work within the allocated plant area.
- Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance trades personnel as required.
- Specify, monitor, and assess the performance and quality of work undertaken by external contractors and internal trades teams.
- Maintain data quality and ownership of mechanical assets within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Generate maintenance performance reports and analyse equipment performance to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
- Develop and update planned preventative maintenance procedures in line with best practice and site requirements.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis investigations and support reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) and asset criticality assessments.
- Work closely with production teams to improve the reliability and effectiveness of process and safety-critical equipment.
- Manage the procurement of strategic critical spares.
- Develop Safe Systems of Work for mechanical maintenance activities.
- Support compliance activities and assist production management in meeting legislative requirements.
- Carry out objective setting, performance reviews, and development activities for direct reports.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum HNC or Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience of mechanical machinery within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in a maintenance supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of maintenance planning, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement principles.
- Good IT, communication, and team-working skills.
Desirable:
- NEBOSH qualification.
- Experience working within a hazardous manufacturing environment.
- Explosives Awareness Training.
- Lean Six Sigma qualification.
- RCM and/or TPM experience.
- Risk Assessment training and experience.
