This is a senior, high-impact hire into the Construction underwriting team, where you will be responsible for driving new business growth, managing key broker relationships, and supporting the development of a small but expanding underwriting function.
In this varied role, duties will include underwriting Construction risks across a multi-line portfolio, managing a steady flow of incoming submissions via the CRM, and building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, which will include some in-person meetings. You’ll promote the company’s underwriting appetite and capabilities, contribute to the growth of newly-secured facilities and schemes, and act as a technical referral point for complex risks.
This company is highly innovative and offers a unique Contractors Combined product, which is being extremely well-received in the market. Refreshingly, this product gives Construction Underwriters rare exposure to cross-class covers including Liability, Contract Works and PI. You’ll be working in conjunction with highly experienced colleagues across the company (including the specialist PI team), who will be able to help you plug any gaps in specific technical knowledge.
Whilst this is a new business role, you will not be short of broker enquiries. As well as regular incoming submissions, you’ll be working closely with a driven Sales & Business Development team, who will be generating regular leads for you to work with.
It’s essential that you have a successful track record of writing Construction insurance. As the product has a Liability bias, it is crucial that you are competent within this area. Any experience with Contract Works or Construction PI would be advantageous, although this is by no means essential. Importantly, you must enjoy writing new business, and have a solutions-focussed approach. You’ll have strong communication skills, and genuinely enjoy trading with brokers, both over the phone and face to face.
