How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently working with an established Main Contractor based in Central London who specialise in high end residential, hotel and commercial fit out and refurbishment projects. Due to several new projects win they are looking to hire an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work closely with one of their Project Surveyors on a £15million project in the West End.


    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Assist with the commercial management of CAT A and CAT B fit-out projects across Central London.
    • Support the preparation, submission, and agreement of interim valuations and final accounts.
    • Procure subcontract packages, including obtaining and analysing quotations.
    • Assist with subcontractor payments, variations, and account management.
    • Monitor project costs, budgets, and cash flow reporting.
    • Prepare and maintain cost reports and commercial documentation.
    • Support the management of change control and variation processes.
    • Liaise with project managers, site teams, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
    • Assist in identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery.
    • Ensure accurate record keeping and contract administration.


    Requirements

    • Degree qualified or working towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
    • 1–3 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the construction industry.
    • Previous experience on commercial fit-out, refurbishment, or interior projects is desirable.
    • Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial procedures.
    • Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced project environment.
    • Motivated, eager to learn, and keen to develop a career in Quantity Surveying.
