How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Press Operator (Sheet Metal) - 2 Week Contract
    Location: Stevenage
    Contract: Temporary - 2 Weeks
    Pay Rate: £16.00 - £20.00 per hour (dependent on experience)
    Hours:
    ·Monday to Thursday: 7:30am - 4:30pm
    ·Friday: 7:30am - 1:30pm

    About the Role
    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Press Operator to join a well-established engineering and sheet metal fabrication company in Hertfordshire on a short-term 2-week contract.
    This position has become available to provide urgent workshop cover within a busy production environment. The role will involve operating press machinery to manufacture sheet metal components to specification, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and accuracy are maintained at all times.
    The company specialises in the manufacture and fabrication of metal components for industrial and commercial applications, working to customer specifications and engineering drawings. The workshop environment is fast-paced and requires individuals who are confident working with machinery and have previous experience within a manufacturing or fabrication setting.

    Key Responsibilities
    ·Operating press machinery within a sheet metal fabrication workshop
    ·Producing components accurately to engineering drawings and specifications
    ·Carrying out quality checks on finished products
    ·Ensuring all work is completed to required safety and production standards
    ·Supporting general workshop production and fabrication tasks as required
    ·Maintaining a clean and safe working environment

    Candidate Requirements
    ·Previous experience working in a sheet metal, fabrication, or engineering workshop
    ·Experience operating machinery such as presses, guillotines, folders, rollers, or similar equipment (preferred)
    ·Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
    ·Strong attention to detail and quality control awareness
    ·Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment
    ·Own safety boots and appropriate PPE
    ·Immediate availability for a short-term contract
