A specialist school in Greater Manchester is seeking an experienced and motivated School Business Manager to join its leadership team. The school provides education and support for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across Key Stages 2 to 4 and is committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where young people can thrive.
The Role
Working closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team, the School Business Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective day-to-day and strategic management of the school's business functions.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the school's financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and long-term financial planning.
Overseeing HR administration processes, payroll liaison, recruitment, and staff onboarding.
Managing site operations, maintenance programmes, contracts, procurement, and compliance requirements.
Ensuring adherence to health and safety, safeguarding, and statutory obligations.
Line managing administrative and support staff.
Supporting school improvement initiatives through effective resource and operational management.
Providing strategic business support to the senior leadership team.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Previous experience in a School Business Manager role or a similar operational, financial, or business management position.
Strong financial management and budget planning skills.
Knowledge of HR processes, compliance, and operational management.
Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership abilities.
The ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
