How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    English Academic Coach

Could this be the school-based opportunity that takes you from graduate support work into a qualified teaching career? Are you looking for a role where you can build classroom confidence, support pupils in English, and work towards QTS in a forward-thinking secondary setting?

    *** English Academic Coach
    *** Teacher training opportunity
*** Temp to Perm – September 2026 start
*** Starting salary: £85-£95 per day, End salary: £32,916 annually (when qualified)
*** Forward thinking secondary school based in central Birmingham

    The Role:
Join the English department in a developmental role designed to build your classroom confidence before teacher training. You will support pupils through 1:1 intervention, small-group academic work, lesson support, and targeted help with reading, writing, analysis, and exam preparation, while learning from experienced staff in a busy secondary setting.

    The Candidate:
You are articulate, organised, and able to explain ideas clearly in a way pupils understand. You want proper secondary school experience, enjoy helping students improve in English, and see this as a genuine route into teaching rather than just another temporary role.

    Requirements

Degree – A 2:2 or above in English, English Literature, Creative Writing, or a related subject.
Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
Career Goals – A desire to train as a teacher and build a long-term career in education.
    The School:
This forward thinking secondary school based in central Birmingham offers a strong setting for a graduate who wants to prove themselves in the classroom and then progress. The temp to perm structure gives you the chance to build confidence in school first, work closely with an established English team, and move towards QTS in a setting that values subject knowledge, purposeful intervention, and future teachers.

    How to Apply
Apply today with your CV to be considered for this English Academic Coach role. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to discuss next steps and arrange interview. Early applications are encouraged, as the school may appoint before the closing date.

Due to the high number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted
