How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: CNC Setter / Operator – Mazak Milling

    Pay: £19.03 per hour + 28.5% Shift Premium (£24.45 per hour equivalent)

    Location: Consett

    Hours: Consett Standard Production 4 Shift Pattern (Rotating over 28 Days) / Days = 06:00 - 18:00 / Nights = 18:00 - 06:00 / Breaks = 1.75 hours per shift (30 minutes unpaid)

    AMLR Engineering is working in partnership with a leading aerospace manufacturing company based in Consett. Specialising in the production of high-precision aerospace components, our client has built an excellent reputation for quality, innovation and technical excellence within the UK aerospace sector.

    Manufacturing precision-engineered components for globally recognised aerospace customers, you will become part of a highly skilled and respected engineering team. Due to continued growth and increased customer demand, our client is looking to strengthen its machining department with an experienced CNC Setter / Operator.

    Due to the nature of the market our client supplies into, all candidates must be UK residents, and DBS checks (Disclosure & Barring Service) may be required. Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

    Purpose of the CNC Setter / Operator Role

    To produce high-quality precision components from engineering drawings using CNC milling machines, ensuring all products meet customer specifications, quality standards and production targets. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting, operating and inspecting components while maintaining safe and efficient manufacturing practices.

    Key Responsibilities and Duties of the CNC Setter / Operator Role

    * Produce precision aerospace components from engineering drawings using CNC milling machines.

    * Competently set and operate Mazak CNC machines.

    * Manufacture components accurately and efficiently while maintaining high quality standards.

    * Work to tight tolerances and perform self-inspection of completed components.

    * Interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.

    * Operate 3, 4 and 5 Axis CNC milling machines.

    * Conduct quality checks using a variety of measuring equipment.

    * Ensure all finished components meet customer and quality requirements.

    * Identify and report any quality or production concerns.

    * Maintain accurate production records where required.

    * Work independently and use initiative to support production requirements.

    * Support continuous improvement activities within the machining department.

    * Clean and maintain CNC machines, tooling and surrounding work areas.

    * Adhere to all company health, safety and environmental procedures.

    Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required

    * Fully skilled, time-served CNC Setter / Operator (certificates required).

    * Proven experience setting and operating Mazak CNC milling machines.

    * Experience working on 3, 4 and 5 Axis machining centres.

    * Aerospace manufacturing experience.

    * Ability to interpret engineering drawings.

    * Experience working to tight tolerances.

    * Competent in using a wide variety of measuring equipment.

    * Experience with Mazatrol, Heidenhain and Fanuc controls

    * Strong attention to detail and quality.

    * Good practical and problem-solving skills.

    * Ability to follow written instructions accurately.

    * Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

    * Excellent hand-to-eye coordination.

    * Normal colour vision.

    * Flexible approach to shift working, including nights.
