How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant

Could you make a real difference to pupils with additional needs in a specialist school setting? Are you looking for meaningful experience before moving into educational or clinical psychology?

    *** SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant
    *** September 2026 to July 2027
    *** £90 - £105 per day
*** SEN school, Ward of Edgbaston
*** Support pupils with Autism or SEMH needs

    The Role:
Support pupils with Autism or SEMH needs through a mixture of 1:1 work, small-group intervention, and classroom support. You will help pupils access learning, follow routines, regulate behaviour, build confidence, and engage more positively with school throughout the day.

    The Candidate:
You are calm, observant, and able to build trust through consistency and clear communication. You want practical school-based experience, you can stay patient in a busy SEN setting, and you are interested in how the right support helps pupils with additional needs feel secure and make progress.

    Requirements

Degree – A 2:2 or above in an SEN related subject.
Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
Career Goals – A desire to pursue a career in educational or clinical psychology.
    The School:
The school is a specialist secondary setting that supports students aged 11 to 19 with autism and associated communication, learning and sensory needs. Whilst the school caters for secondary aged children, they run a primary curriculum. Staff provide a structured, supportive and autism-friendly environment where pupils can build confidence, develop independence and access learning in a way that suits their individual needs. The school places a strong focus on personal development, wellbeing and preparing students for adulthood.
