How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    SEN Tutor / Qualified Teacher – Southwark

    £25–£35 per hour PAYE + Paid Planning & Preparation Time
    Equivalent to approximately £30–£42 per hour

    Location: Southwark and surrounding areas
    Hours: Flexible Part-Time & Full-Time Opportunities

    New Chapter Tuition is recruiting experienced Tutors and Qualified Teachers to deliver personalised 1:1 tuition for children and young people aged 5–25 across Southwark and surrounding areas.

    This rewarding role is ideal for Qualified Teachers, SEN Tutors, HLTAs, Teaching Assistants, Learning Mentors, Youth Workers, and experienced education professionals looking for flexible work that makes a genuine difference.

    You will support learners who may be unable to access full-time education, require additional SEND support, or be working towards reintegration into education.

    Learners May Present With:

    • Autism (ASC)
    • ADHD
    • SEMH needs
    • Dyslexia and literacy difficulties
    • Speech and Language Needs
    • Anxiety and EBSA
    • EHCP-linked needs
    • Alternative Provision and EOTAS pathways

    The Role:

    • Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition sessions
    • Support learners across Primary, Secondary, GCSE and Functional Skills
    • Adapt learning to individual needs and learning styles
    • Build positive relationships that encourage engagement and confidence
    • Support both academic progress and personal development
    • Complete session reports and progress updates
    • Work collaboratively with families, schools, and professionals

    Tuition Takes Place In:

    • Homes
    • Libraries
    • Community venues
    • Schools and alternative provisions

    Requirements:

    ✔ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) and/or relevant tutoring experience
    ✔ Minimum 1 year of experience supporting children or young people
    ✔ Experience working with SEND, SEMH, Autism, ADHD, or Dyslexia
    ✔ Strong communication and relationship-building skills
    ✔ Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred) or willingness to obtain one
    ✔ Right to work in the UK
