How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Field Service Engineer (Generators)
    Walsall, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Coventry
    £45,000 - £55,000 + Overtime + Door to Door + Company Vehicle + Industry-Leading Pension
    Are you an experienced Generator Engineer or Electrically Biased Service Engineer looking to join a growing and well-established business where you'll work on a variety of generator and switchgear systems across the Midlands?
    On offer is a fantastic opportunity to join a specialist engineering company that invests in its employees through ongoing support, quality equipment, and excellent benefits.
    This company continues to grow and is looking to strengthen its engineering team with a skilled Generator/Switchgear Engineer capable of delivering high-quality service and maintenance support to customers across the region.
    The day-to-day of this role includes servicing, maintaining and installing generators and associated control systems, diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, carrying out load bank testing, and supporting customers with breakdowns and upgrades to existing systems.
    The ideal candidate will be a time-served Generator Engineer with electrical qualifications.
    The role:
    Generator/Switchgear Engineer
    Service, maintenance and installation of generators and control systems
    Load bank testing and system upgrades
    Field-based role covering the Midlands
    40 hours per week
    The person:
    Time-served Generator Engineer
    Electrically biased with mechanical knowledge
    Full UK Driving Licence
    CSCS/ECS Card
