How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager to identify new opportunities, win new customers and develop long-term relationships that drive recurring revenue growth.
     
    The Role
    This is a true business development role with a strong account management focus.
    You will be responsible for generating and converting new business opportunities across managed IT services, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365, cloud solutions, connectivity and telecommunications.
    Unlike many sales roles, you will retain ownership of the clients you bring into the business. You will act as their trusted advisor, developing relationships, identifying new opportunities and ensuring a seamless customer experience throughout the partnership.
    The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter who enjoys building relationships, opening doors and creating opportunities with decision makers across the SME and mid-market sectors.
     
    Key Responsibilities

    Identify, prospect and secure new business opportunities across the North East.
    Generate appointments through networking, referrals, social selling, outbound activity and marketing-generated leads.
    Conduct discovery meetings to understand client challenges and technology requirements.
    Present and demonstrate Cornerstone's portfolio of managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud and communications solutions.
    Prepare proposals, quotations and business cases.
    Manage opportunities through the full sales cycle from initial engagement to contract signature.
    Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline using CRM systems.
    Develop strategic relationships with business owners, directors and senior decision makers.
    Retain ownership of accounts won and provide ongoing account management.
    Conduct regular client reviews and identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling services.
    Work closely with technical and delivery teams to ensure successful onboarding and customer satisfaction.
    Represent Cornerstone at networking events, exhibitions and business forums.
    Achieve agreed monthly, quarterly and annual revenue targets. What We're Looking For
    Essential

    Proven experience in business development, account management or sales.
    Track record of generating and closing new business opportunities.
    Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
    Ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and business owners.
    Commercially driven with a consultative sales approach.
    Full UK driving licence.  
    Highly Desirable

    Experience selling Managed IT Services, Cybersecurity, Cloud Solutions, Telecommunications or Microsoft Technologies.
    MSP, IT reseller, telecoms or technology solutions background.
    Understanding of recurring revenue and managed service contracts.
    Experience using CRM platforms and sales reporting tools. What We Offer
