How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Site Manager – Major Rail Infrastructure Project (HS2, Midlands)

A leading civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Site Manager to join a flagship delivery team on the UK’s most high-profile rail infrastructure programme – the next generation of high-speed connectivity shaping the future of transport across Britain. High Speed 2 (HS2)

This is a hands-on leadership role on a large-scale heavy civils package in the Midlands, delivering complex works in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment. The project spans major earthworks, structures, utilities diversions and rail corridor development – the kind of work that defines careers, not just CVs.

    The Role

You’ll take ownership of day-to-day site operations, driving delivery against programme, quality, and safety targets. Working closely with engineers, supervisors and subcontractors, you’ll ensure works are executed efficiently, safely, and to specification.

You’ll be the kind of Site Manager who doesn’t just coordinate from the sidelines – you’re visible on site, solving problems in real time, and keeping momentum strong when challenges arise.

    About You

This role would suit a Site Manager with a strong civil engineering or construction background, ideally someone who has progressed through engineering, site engineering or section engineering routes.

    You will likely have:

    * Proven experience on major infrastructure or heavy civils projects

    * A strong technical understanding of construction methods and sequencing

    * Confidence managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams

    * A proactive, solutions-focused mindset under pressure

    * Strong commitment to safety and quality standards

    * SMSTS and relevant construction qualifications (or equivalent experience)

    What Makes This Stand Out

This isn’t routine site management. It’s a chance to be part of one of the most significant infrastructure programmes in Europe, working in a delivery team that values technical excellence, initiative, and leadership on the ground.

You’ll be trusted with real responsibility on complex works, with clear pathways to senior leadership roles as the programme progresses.

    The Opportunity

If you’re an engineering-minded Site Manager who wants to step into a role where scale, complexity, and impact all come together, this is the kind of project that can define the next stage of your career.

Applications are encouraged from individuals who thrive in challenging environments and want to play a key role in delivering nationally significant infrastructure
