How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Literacy Intervention & Dyslexia Support Practitioner

    Location: Horsham, West Sussex
    Salary: £28,182 plus Specialist Skills Allowance (SSA) of £1,539 per annum
    Contract: Full-Time (Term Time Only)
    Start Date: September 2026

    Are you passionate about literacy, reading development, and supporting young people to achieve their full potential?

    We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Literacy Intervention & Dyslexia Support Practitioner to join our specialist school team. Based within the school library, this unique role focuses on developing literacy skills, promoting a love of reading, and delivering targeted interventions that help students access learning and build confidence.

    Working closely with teaching staff, therapy teams, and families, you will play a key role in identifying literacy needs, delivering tailored support, and ensuring students receive the interventions they need to succeed both academically and personally.

    The Role

    As the school's Literacy Intervention & Dyslexia Support Practitioner, you will be responsible for promoting literacy across the school and supporting students with reading, comprehension, spelling, and wider learning needs.

    You will assess literacy levels, deliver evidence-based interventions, and help create a positive reading culture that encourages students to engage with books and develop lifelong literacy skills.

    Key Responsibilities

    Routinely assess students' reading accuracy, fluency, comprehension, and literacy development.
    Deliver targeted literacy interventions to improve reading, comprehension, spelling, and written communication skills.
    Promote a positive reading culture and encourage a love of reading throughout the school.
    Identify students requiring additional literacy support and implement appropriate intervention programmes.
    Support students in accessing the wider curriculum through literacy-focused strategies and personalised support.
    Develop additional learning skills including working memory, emotional literacy, organisation, fine motor skills, turn-taking, and social communication.
    Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
    Liaise with teachers, pastoral staff, therapists, and families to ensure effective support plans are in place.
    Work alongside the Head of Therapy to coordinate independent Dyslexia assessments, with parental consent, where indicators of Dyslexia are identified.
    Support the development and implementation of literacy-related strategies across the school.

    The Ideal Candidate

    We are looking for someone who:

    Has experience supporting literacy development, reading interventions, or additional learning needs.
    Has knowledge of Dyslexia, literacy difficulties, and effective intervention strategies.
    Is passionate about promoting reading and helping young people achieve success.
    Has strong communication and relationship-building skills.
    Is organised, patient, and able to work independently.
    Can effectively assess, monitor, and record student progress.
    Has experience working with children or young people within education, SEN, SEND, or specialist settings (desirable).Please note that due to the location of the school, a full Drivers License is required.
