How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role

    We are seeking an experienced Marine Underwriter to join our growing underwriting team. The ideal candidate will bring experience in wet marine underwriting, specializing in high-value private pleasure yachts. This is a remote position, offering flexibility while requiring strong collaboration with a distributed team of underwriting professionals.



    Key Responsibilities

    -Underwrite a diverse portfolio of wet marine risks, including

    • Private pleasure yachts with hull values up to $50,000,000and policy limits up to $ 15,000,000
    • Proportional Protection & Indemnity (P&I) sublimits
    • Ability to expand responsibilities into commercial marine.
    • Exercise full carrier underwriting authority with independent decision-making

    - Interpret and draft manuscript endorsements reflecting insured special needs

    -Prioritize recommendations presented in  out-of-water marine surveys

    -Ensure compliance with U.S. And international insurance regulations and market practices

    -Collaborate remotely with other underwriters and support staff

    -Identify and broker risks that fall outside of carrier guidelines to appropriate market partners

    -Occasionally broker non-wet marine risks to other relevant markets

    -Maintain and leverage strong market relationships and distribution networks



    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 5 years of direct  marine underwriting experience with carrier authority
    • In-depth knowledge of marine insurance wordings, particularly for high-value pleasure crafts, with willingness to expand responsibilities to commercial risks 
    • Familiarity with U.S. And international insurance standards
    • Proven ability to evaluate marine survey reports and assess risk condition/urgency
    • Experience working independently in a remote, collaborative environment
    • Strong brokering capabilities and market navigation skills
    • Professional credentials (e.g., AMIM, CPCU, etc.) are a  positive attribute



    Ideal Candidate Will Have

    • A deep understanding of both domestic markets and some knowledge of international marine markets
    • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset
    •  Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • An ability to work autonomously and manage multiple complex risks efficiently
