How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

NOTE before applying: Any application needs to be submitted through the Birdlife International website.

We’re BirdLife International, the only global Partnership conserving birds and all life on our planet. We exist to give one voice to nature, and to unite and strengthen conservation across borders.

We are looking for an IBAT Biodiversity Engagement and Outreach Officer to play a central role in driving IBAT’s growth and impact through a combination of business development and customer success, ensuring that IBAT is delivering value by enabling organisations to integrate biodiversity considerations into decision-making.

    How you will do this:

    Business Development & Growth

    • Drive IBAT subscription sales and expand global engagement across corporates, financial institutions, consultancies, and platform providers.
    • Deliver compelling demos and advise clients on using IBAT to support TNFD-aligned risk assessment, disclosure, and broader business strategy.
    • Build strategic partnerships across the IBAT Alliance to unlock new sectors, regions, and growth opportunities.

    Customer Success

    • Build trusted client relationships and help organisations turn biodiversity data into actionable insights.
    • Deliver training, onboarding, and expert support to maximise customer value and retention.
    • Capture user feedback to continuously improve the customer experience and shape the product roadmap.

    Industry Engagement & Thought Leadership

    • Represent IBAT at global events, webinars, and high-profile forums including COP.
    • Contribute to thought leadership and identify new opportunities to grow awareness and engagement.

    What we are looking for:

We are looking for a commercially minded professional with experience in sales, business development, or customer success within a SaaS, technology, or service-based environment. You will bring a strong understanding of sustainability in a business context, including awareness of frameworks such as TNFD, CSRD, and SBTN, and experience supporting private sector organisations on sustainability strategies and objectives. The ideal candidate will have excellent relationship-building, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. A degree in business, sustainability, economics, technology, marketing, or a related field is desirable, alongside strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office; GIS knowledge would be an advantage.

See the full job description on the BirdLife International website.

    Some of our benefits:

We are able to offer a hybrid model of working on-site and from home/remote for most roles, which helps to ensure a flexible work-life balance.

A chance to work in the award-winning David Attenborough Building, which brings together much of the Cambridge-based conservation community on a ‘conservation campus.’

A generous pension scheme, up to 12% company contribution.

Holiday starting at 25 days excluding Bank Holidays and increasing for every year of service up to a maximum of 28 days.

Full access to LinkedIn Learning with access to more than 13,000 high-quality, on-demand courses.

    Cycle to work scheme.

Employee Assistance Programme, including access to Health Assured online health portal (webinars, nutritional advice, 4-week programmes, financial wellbeing and more).
