How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary: £25,000–£26,000

    About Us

UOE is a fast-growing, award-winning, independent retailer offering stationery, gifting, printing and Post Office services across London and the Home Counties. We’ve just scaled to over 42 stores and 200 employees and are currently undertaking a brand transformation to our new name, STAMP!

We’re on a mission to prove that high street retail still matters and we’re backing that with bold growth, serious investment, and an entrepreneurial team who are in it to win it.

If you are organised, detail-focused, and passionate about delivering a great employee experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive People team.

    About the Role

As a People Assistant (Recruitment & Administration Focus), you will play a key role in supporting end-to-end recruitment and essential People team administration across the business. You will ensure a smooth and positive experience for candidates and employees, while maintaining accurate records and supporting compliance processes.

This is a busy, hands-on role ideal for someone looking to build strong People and recruitment experience in a fast-paced retail environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Recruitment Coordination

    • Manage end-to-end retail recruitment including job postings, CV screening, interviews, and offer coordination
    • Ensure a positive and professional candidate experience throughout the process

    Onboarding & Team Member Administration

    • Manage full onboarding process for all business roles including contracts, references, and new starter documentation
    • Coordinate right to work checks, DBS checks, and other compliance requirements
    • Arrange uniforms, ID badges, system access, and new starter setup
    • Maintain accurate employee records and People systems

    Compliance & Documentation

    • Monitor expiring employee documents and ensure compliance tracking is up to date
    • Support audit readiness by maintaining accurate and well-organised People records
    • Assist in ensuring People processes align with employment legislation and internal policies

    Training & Coordination

    • Coordinate retail training bookings
    • Support scheduling and logistics for employee learning and development activities

    People Team Support

    • Manage the People inbox, triaging queries and escalating where appropriate
    • Provide administrative support to the wider People team as required
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of People and recruitment processes

    About You

    • Previous experience in HR or recruitment role
    • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
    • Confident communicator, able to work with managers and employees at all levels
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
    • CIPD Level 3 (or working towards) is an advantage
    • Discreet and professional when handling sensitive information

    Why Join UOE

    • Competitive salary: £25,000
    • Opportunity to build strong People and recruitment experience
    • Hybrid working model, to be agreed with your Line Mnager
    • Supportive and friendly team environment
    • Real opportunity to grow as the business continues to expand
    • Autonomy and variety in your day-to-day role

    Our Culture

At UOE, our values shape everything we do:

    • Expert & Trusted – We know our stuff and deliver on our promises
    • Hub of the Community – We support our customers and each other
    • Surprisingly Fun! – We take our work seriously, but not ourselves

We are committed to building an inclusive and supportive workplace. If you need reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know—we are happy to support you.

To apply, send over your CV and a short cover letter (written by you, not AI!), explaining why you believe your skills match this role and how you align with our values.
