How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Nuneaton

We are seeking a proactive and organised Planning Enforcement Officer to join a busy Development Control Team in Nuneaton on a 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in protecting the built environment by investigating breaches of planning control, monitoring development activity, and supporting the delivery of an effective planning enforcement service.

Working within a collaborative local authority environment, you will manage a varied caseload of enforcement matters, engage with residents and developers, and contribute to ensuring compliance with planning legislation and approved planning permissions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Investigate complaints and potential breaches of planning control.
    • Conduct site inspections, visits, observations, and interviews.
    • Gather, record, and maintain accurate evidence to support investigations.
    • Provide advice and guidance to residents, developers, and businesses on planning enforcement matters.
    • Monitor compliance with planning conditions and work proactively with developers to resolve issues.
    • Prepare enforcement notices and associated legal documentation.
    • Draft reports and provide evidence at hearings, public inquiries, and court proceedings where required.
    • Liaise with other council departments and external agencies on joint investigations.
    • Assist with responses to Freedom of Information (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulation (EIR) requests.
    • Support the wider Development Control Team and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

    About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

    • Strong communication and organisational skills.
    • The ability to manage investigations and maintain detailed, accurate records.
    • Confidence when dealing with members of the public, developers, legal representatives, and other stakeholders.
    • Knowledge or experience of planning enforcement, development control, or a related planning environment.
    • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team.
    • Good IT skills and a willingness to embrace technology to improve service delivery.

    What's on Offer?

    • 6-month contract within a supportive local authority team.
    • Exposure to a varied and interesting caseload.
    • One professional membership fee paid.
    • Level One Car User Allowance.
    • Opportunity to develop your planning enforcement experience.
    • Collaborative working environment focused on high-quality customer service.

If you are an experienced Planning Enforcement professional or have relevant Development Control experience and are looking for your next contract opportunity in Nuneaton, we would love to hear from you.
