Flanders Investment & Trade, part of the Embassy of Belgium, is a worldwide government agency that supports Flemish companies in their export activities abroad and attracts foreign direct investments to Flanders.
The London office is hiring a motivated Trade Adviser to strengthen our team. The ideal candidate brings a positive, can‑do attitude and thrives in a client‑facing, B2B environment. We are looking for someone who enjoys engaging with clients and building strong relationships, with a natural flair for networking. Experience in event planning and stakeholder engagement would be a plus.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree; relevant studies is a plus.
- Three years’ work experience; related (international) experience and/or knowledge of the Flemish or UK economies is a plus.
- Languages; Advanced business proficiency in English, Flemish is a plus.
- IT: Knowledge of Microsoft applications. CRM systems is a plus.
- Right to work in the UK; (pre-)settled status/indefinite leave to remain/citizenship is a plus. If a VISA is required, the candidate is liable to cover all costs and related expenses incurred (inform yourself before applying).

Main duties and responsibilities
- Respond to enquiries from Flemish companies who want to do business in/with the UK. Proactively gather and share market intelligence relevant to Flemish businesses. Prepare market and sector studies and reports.
- Attend events to gather information and build a local network to maintain and build strong client relationships. Display strong interpersonal and social skills.
- Organise and support individual prospecting visits, trade missions, -fairs, and networking events. Coordinate activities with internal and external partners.
- Demonstrate a client-focused, detail-oriented, problem-solving and proactive approach to tasks at hand.
- Produce clear and concise written communication for internal reporting and external stakeholders. Support in drafting policies and budget plans.
- Carry out general administrative duties, including reception, phone calls, agenda, archiving, correspondence and accounting.
- Manage CRM databases and maintain follow-up of commercial contacts.
- Apply knowledge of British and Flemish business environments where relevant.
- Maintain a strong interest in international trade, foreign direct investment, and economic and political affairs.

Selection procedure
Initial selection will be made by 01/07/2026, you will be informed via email. The following round will include a planned phone conversation, followed by a more in-depth interview with tests before a jury.
Candidates who are deemed successful by the jury in the final selection round, will be kept on a reserve list for two years.
