The Role
The Gate Person/General Operative work on construction sites and roadways to ensure the safe movement of vehicles and plant equipment. They are responsible for maintaining security on-site, facilitating the movement of vehicles, and preserving public traffic routes.
You will be required to work on-site when not based at the Gate in the role of General Operative.
Key Responsibilities
Maintaining site security: as a traffic marshal, you are responsible for the security and safety of visitors and workers on the site
Controlling vehicle movements
Guide deliveries and visitors around the site without causing damage or accidents
Ability to use communication tools and hand signals to communicate with drivers
Ability to use a two-way radio to advise the site team of the arrival of deliveries
Create clear routes for entrance and exit to ease movement in and out of the site, and ensure the vehicles exiting the site don't cause traffic disruption on the public highway
Ensuring pedestrian safety, the vehicle pathways shouldn't pose a danger to pedestrians on the road
Guide pedestrians out of harm's way when heavy vehicles are turning
As and when not based on the Gate, you will carry out General Operative Duties

Have good organisational skills and be prepared to assert themselves to get the job done
