How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Construction Skills Instructor

    Location: Peterborough

Up to £35,000 per annum + Full Training & Teaching Qualification Support + 37.5 Hours Per Week + School-Hours Role + Long-Term Stability + Career Development Opportunities

Are you a hands-on construction professional looking to step into education as a Construction Skills Instructor, delivering practical, engaging learning experiences to students aged 12-16 within an alternative provision setting where you can showcase your skills and continue your development.

This is a supportive and forward-thinking educational environment committed to re-engaging learners who require additional support to reach their potential. The organisation places a strong emphasis on practical, skills-based learning, positive relationships, and preparing young people for successful progression into further education, apprenticeships, or employment.

In this role, you will deliver workshop-based construction sessions, giving learners the opportunity to develop real-world practical skills in a safe and structured environment. You will play a key role in building confidence, improving behavior for learning, and supporting students to develop positive work habits and aspirations. Full training and support will be provided to help you gain a recognised teaching qualification while in post.

The ideal candidate will come from a strong construction or trade background and will be confident working in a practical, hands-on environment. While prior teaching experience is desirable, it is not essential. What is most important is your ability to engage young people, build positive relationships, and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity to transition into education, join a highly supportive team, and build a long-term career in skills training while making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

    The Role:

*Deliver practical, workshop-based construction lessons to students aged 12-16.
*Support learners in developing core construction skills and industry awareness.
*Create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.
*Work collaboratively with colleagues to support learner progress and outcomes.
*Help prepare students for progression into apprenticeships, further education, or employment.
*Contribute to the wider development of the construction curriculum.

    The Person:

*Strong hands-on experience within construction or a relevant trade.
*Confident working with young people in a practical learning environment.
*Teaching experience desirable but not essential.
    *Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
*Committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and student wellbeing.
*Motivated to pursue a long-term career in education and skills training.
*Willing to undertake training towards a teaching qualification.
