How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Civil Engineer
    SE1, London
    £45,000-£60,000 + Bonus + Private Healthcare + Training + Hybrid Working

    This is a great opportunity for a Civil Engineer to join a well-established engineering consultancy working across a wide range of varied and technically interesting projects in London.
    The company is a respected civil and structural engineering consultancy based in central London, known for delivering high-quality, practical engineering solutions across residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. With a strong pipeline of repeat business and ongoing growth within the civils team, they are now looking to bring in a Senior Civil Engineer to support delivery and development of their workload. They are a forward-thinking consultancy with a collaborative culture, strong focus on quality, and genuine emphasis on long-term development, with directors closely involved in project delivery.

    In this role, you will work closely with senior engineers and directors across a variety of live projects, taking responsibility for civil design from early-stage input through to detailed delivery. This will include drainage design, highways and infrastructure, flood risk assessments, earthworks and Section 278 works, along with regular liaison with clients, consultants and local authorities.
    The role is open to individuals who are confident technically, enjoy working across multiple projects and are looking to develop further within a supportive consultancy environment. Strong Civil 3D and AutoCAD experience is preferred, along with a solid understanding of UK design and construction processes.
