How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    PE Teacher – Alternative Provision – ASAP Start
    Are you a QTS PE Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity to support young people who face barriers to learning? Do you have the resilience and confidence to engage students who may have been disengaged from education? This alternative provision in East Birmingham is looking to appoint a dedicated PE Teacher to start ASAP.

    As a PE Teacher, you will work with small groups of students, who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or have been excluded from mainstream education. You will deliver engaging and structured PE lessons that promote teamwork, resilience and positive behaviour, helping students re-engage with education through sport and physical activity. You will be given the freedom to plan creative lessons that are tailored to the interests and abilities of your students, and will be working closely with an outstanding team of teaching and support staff.

    This role requires a qualified PE teacher with QTS who is confident managing behaviour, building positive relationships and creating a supportive environment where students can succeed.

    Job Role:

    Teaching PE to small groups of students in an alternative provision
    Planning and delivering engaging and structured PE lessons
    Supporting students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours
    Promoting teamwork, resilience and positive attitudes
    Building strong relationships to support engagement and behaviour
    Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment
    Working closely with support staff and pastoral teams
    Monitoring and reporting on student progress and participationIn Return You Will:
