How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Applications Engineer

    Location: Sutton-in-Ashfield
    Salary: £49,000 per annum + Pension + Healthcare
    Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
    Reporting to: Engineering Director

    About the Role

    We are looking for an Applications Engineer to join our growing Engineering team in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working closely with customers, manufacturing, and technical teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. You'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from understanding customer requirements through to design, documentation, testing, and project completion.

    Key Responsibilities

    Translate customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.
    Produce technical documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, and manuals.
    Act as a technical point of contact for customers and support project delivery.
    Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and customer demonstrations.
    Work closely with manufacturing and procurement teams to ensure successful project execution.
    Maintain accurate project and engineering documentation.
    Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and business management systems.

    What We're Looking For

    Essential:

    Engineering qualification (HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent experience).
    Experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or technical environment.
    Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
    Ability to produce accurate technical documentation.Desirable:

    Previous experience as an Applications Engineer, Design Engineer, or Project Engineer.
    AutoCAD experience.
    LV Switchgear experience
    Experience supporting FATs and producing O&M manuals.
