How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are recruiting on behalf of a major construction consultancy with an excellent reputation for delivering complex built environment projects safely and to the highest standards. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Consultant to join their specialist team.

    You will provide expert health and safety guidance across a varied portfolio of construction projects, supporting clients from pre-construction through to completion. CDM 2015 experience is essential, and candidates with Principal Designer experience will be at a distinct advantage.

    Key Responsibilities of the Health & Safety Consultant

    Advising on and ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 Regulations across multiple projects

    Preparing and reviewing pre-construction information, construction phase plans, and H&S files

    Conducting site inspections, audits, and risk assessments

    Acting as Principal Designer on suitable projects (desirable)

    Providing competent H&S advice to clients, contractors, and design teams

    Supporting incident investigation and near-miss reporting

    Contributing to internal training and continual improvement

    Requirements of the Health & Safety Consultant

    Solid, demonstrable experience in H&S within construction or the built environment

    Strong working knowledge of CDM 2015 — essential

    NEBOSH Construction Certificate or higher (Diploma preferred)

    IOSH membership (TechIOSH minimum; CMIOSH desirable)

    Principal Designer experience — highly advantageous

    Strong communication skills and confidence engaging at all levels

    Full UK driving licence

    Salary: between £45,000 - £50,000 depending on experience
