How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Vehicle Damage Assessor | Remote/Hybrid | £30,000 – £40,000 DOE | Excellent Benefits

    Permanent Opportunity- Monday to Friday

Our client, a specialist within automotive services, is looking for an experienced VDA to join their desktop engineering team. This is a great opportunity to join a company with a strong reputation for technical excellence and a genuine commitment to the development of its people.

    The Opportunity

This is a pure desktop role, so no site visits or field work - you'll be assessing damage, making engineering decisions, and managing costs entirely remotely. The case-load is varied, covering a broad range of vehicle types, and you'll be expected to bring both technical rigour and solid commercial awareness to every decision you make.

    Day to Day

Assessing vehicle damage via images, estimates and engineering reports
Making repair vs. total loss determinations using your own engineering judgement
Establishing repair methods in line with manufacturer and Thatcham standards
    Reviewing and challenging estimates
Authorising repairs within agreed SLA timelines
Conducting vehicle valuations and assigning salvage categories in line with the ABI Code of Practice
Negotiating costs and settlements with repairers and other stakeholders
    About You

Proven experience in motor engineering - desktop experience preferred but not essential
    Hands-on knowledge of estimating platforms
Solid understanding of Thatcham methodology and manufacturer repair standards
Commercially aware with a focus on cost control
Able to manage a varied case-load independently and hit SLA and KPI targets consistently
Strong communicator, confident negotiating with repairers and stakeholders at all levels
    Credentials

    ATA VDA accreditation - required
AQP / Salvage Categorisation - required
    IMI membership - preferred
