The Role
The successful candidate will:
Teach Religious Studies across allocated classes and key stages
Deliver engaging, challenging and high-quality lessons that inspire students to achieve their best
Contribute to curriculum development, including schemes of work and programmes of study
Support the continued development of Religious Studies within the school
Maintain high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour and achievement
Lead and contribute to a range of Religious Studies enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities
Undertake the responsibilities of a Form Tutor or Sixth Form Tutor
Work collaboratively with colleagues to support whole-school improvement initiatives
Key Responsibilities
The postholder will:
Create a purposeful, stimulating and inclusive learning environment
Plan, deliver and assess lessons effectively across all key stages
Monitor, assess and report on student progress in line with school policies
Set and mark work regularly, providing clear feedback to students
Use performance data to inform planning and raise achievement
Support students with additional learning needs in collaboration with specialist teams
Promote positive behaviour and high standards of attendance
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Attend and actively participate in departmental, year team and pastoral meetings
Support wider school activities and events
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
Be passionate about Religious Studies and committed to delivering excellent outcomes
Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and effective classroom practice
Have high expectations of student achievement and behaviour
Be committed to inclusive education and supporting students from all backgrounds
Possess excellent communication and organisational skills
Be eager to contribute to the wider life of the school
