How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Commercial Gas Engineer (HVAC)

    Location: Peterborough & Home Counties
    Contract Type: Permanent
    Hours: 45 Hours Per Week

    Earn Up to £60,000 Per Year

    Basic Salary: £48,656.73 (Including Standby Payment)
    With paid travel time, overtime, and a 1-in-4 call-out rota (Double Time weekends / Time and a Half weekdays), earnings are realistically circa £60,000 per year.

    The Role

    We are recruiting for a Commercial Gas Engineer (HVAC) to support a major UK supermarket contract across Peterborough and the Home Counties.

    You will carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, and servicing across a range of commercial HVAC systems in retail environments.

    Key Responsibilities

    * PPM and reactive maintenance across multiple sites

    * Service and repair boilers, pumps, fans, AHUs and FCUs

    * Complete minor installations and alterations

    * Fault-find and report non-repairable issues with recommendations

    * Order parts in line with procedures

    * Ensure all work meets safety and compliance standards

    Essential Requirements

    * NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in HVAC or equivalent

    * ACS Commercial Gas (COCN1, CIGA1, CORT1, ICPN1, CDGA1, TPCP1/1A)

    * Full UK Driving Licence

    * Experience in commercial PPM and reactive maintenance

    * Ability to work at height and in confined spaces

    * PDA/mobile system experience

    Desirable

    * Domestic ACS (CCN1, CENWAT, CPA1)

    * F-Gas Category 1 (2079)

    * 18th Edition (BS7671)

    Call-Out Rota

    * 1-in-4 on-call rota

    * Double Time weekends

    * Time and a Half weekdays
