How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary SEMH School

    Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have experience working with vulnerable young people and want to make a genuine difference every day?

    We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Secondary SEMH School in the Castlefield area of Manchester from September. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students who require additional emotional, behavioural, and academic support to achieve success both in and out of the classroom.

    The Role

    Support students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
    Build strong, positive relationships with young people who may have experienced trauma or barriers to education.
    Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions.
    Support behaviour management strategies and promote positive engagement with learning.
    Encourage emotional regulation, social development, and independence.
    Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for all students.

    What We're Looking For

    We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:

    SEMH or SEND schools.
    Alternative provision settings.
    Youth work.
    Mental health support services.
    Residential care.
    Behaviour mentoring.
    Support worker or key worker roles.Team Teach training is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided for suitable candidates.

    The Ideal Candidate Will:

    Be calm, patient, and resilient under pressure.
    Have experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour or additional needs.
    Be able to build positive and professional relationships with students.
    Have a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
    Be committed to helping students overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.
