How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Most models are spreadsheet-based, with key components programmed in Visual Basic. Through its annual research programme, the PPI undertakes both commissioned and self-developed projects, and the Policy Analyst supports in helping to identify, analyse, clean, and manipulate data to be used in the models, and in producing model results to feed into PPI research publications. The Policy Analyst will also contribute to the maintenance and coding of the models by implementing updates, preparing data, running models, and ensuring their own outputs are accurate.

    Duties and Responsibilities include:

Contributing to the maintenance and operation of the PPI Modelling Suite, producing accurate and timely modelling outputs to support PPI research.
Incorporating announced changes to pension policy and other reforms into the PPI Modelling Suite.
Undertaking statistical analysis of published datasets.
Draft research outputs and other material for publication, in particular with respect to quantitative policy analysis.
Communicating findings to technical and non-technical audience both in writing and verbally through presentations.

    About you:

You will be confident interpreting complex outputs and communicating findings clearly to varied audiences. You will be highly organised, able to manage multiple projects, and ideally have at least 2 years’ experience in pensions, long-term savings or economic policy. A relevant degree or equivalent analytical experience is essential.
