How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Opportunity
Wolviston Management Services are proud to be supporting a leading international chemical manufacturing organisation in the appointment of a Responsible Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team at their COMAH Top Tier facility on Teesside.

This is a highly influential position offering technical ownership of critical production assets within a complex process environment. You will act as the site's Mechanical Engineering Authority, driving asset integrity, reliability, compliance and long-term equipment performance while supporting operational excellence across the facility.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking to take ownership of engineering standards, reliability strategy and asset lifecycle management within a safety-critical industrial environment.

    The Role
As Responsible Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across all mechanical engineering activities, ensuring plant equipment is operated, maintained and improved in line with legal, regulatory and company requirements.
Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability and Project teams, you will develop engineering strategies that maximise equipment availability, support safe plant operation and deliver long-term value from critical assets.
You will also play a key role in supporting capital projects, major shutdowns and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of engineering governance.

    Key Responsibilities

Act as the site's Mechanical Engineering Authority for critical plant assets and pressure systems.
Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, engineering standards and company procedures.
Develop and optimise maintenance strategies to improve reliability, integrity and equipment performance.
Provide mechanical design authority and technical guidance for CAPEX projects and plant modifications.
Support major shutdowns and turnarounds through the development of detailed work scopes and engineering specifications.
Manage and maintain technical asset information within the site engineering systems.
Develop asset lifecycle plans, identifying refurbishment, replacement and improvement opportunities.
Drive reliability and continuous improvement initiatives across mechanical systems and rotating equipment.
Optimise spare parts strategies to balance plant availability, risk and cost.
Provide technical leadership and support to engineering, maintenance and contractor teams.
Contribute to engineering budget planning and asset investment strategies. About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or significant equivalent industrial experience.
Extensive experience within chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, energy or other COMAH-regulated process industries.
Strong knowledge of mechanical plant equipment, rotating machinery and pressure systems.
Experience developing maintenance, reliability and asset integrity strategies.
Working knowledge of Fitness for Service methodologies, defect management and engineering risk assessment.
Experience supporting plant modifications, CAPEX projects and major shutdown activities.
Strong understanding of SAP PM or equivalent CMMS maintenance management systems.
Membership of a recognised professional engineering institution, or working towards professional registration. What We're Looking For

A confident technical leader capable of making sound engineering decisions within a complex operating environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on long-term asset performance.
A proactive approach to reliability, continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
High standards of safety, compliance and operational discipline.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering and operational teams. What's on Offer
This is an excellent opportunity to join a globally recognised manufacturing business where engineering excellence, safety and continuous improvement are at the heart of operations.
You will play a key role in shaping the future reliability and integrity of a major industrial facility while working alongside experienced engineering professionals within a technically challenging and rewarding environment.
