How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    SEN Outreach Tutor (English & Maths) – Part-Time & Full-Time Opportunities
    Location: Various Locations
    Pay Rate: £25–£35 per hour
    Start Date: ASAP and September 2026 starts available
    Location: Barking and Dagenham

    GSL Education is currently recruiting dedicated and experienced SEN Outreach Tutors to provide one-to-one tuition for students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

    This rewarding role involves supporting students who are unable to access mainstream education, delivering personalised learning programmes in the community, at home, or in alternative educational settings.

    Each student receives 2 hours of tuition per day, Monday to Friday, consisting of:

    1 hour of English
    1 hour of Maths
    As a result, applicants must be confident and capable of teaching both English and Maths.

    We have both part-time and full-time opportunities available:

    Part-Time

    Work with one student
    2 hours per day, Monday to Friday
    Full-Time

    Work with 2–3 students per day
    Monday to Friday schedule
    Flexible timetable across multiple tuition sessions
    The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or
    Significant experience as an SEN Outreach Tutor or SEN Teacher
    Proven experience supporting students with SEN and/or SEMH needs
    Strong knowledge of both English and Maths curriculum content
    Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills
    The ability to plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons
    A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
    Primary or secondary teaching experience/ability
