Job Description:
The Reputation and Engagement Communications Manageris a key role within the European Marketing & Corporate Responsibility function at TJX Europe. This role is integral in helping to drive profitable sales and increasing market share by delivering impactful and measurable pan-European internal and external corporate & associate communications plans and activations. These are designed to promote, protect, and drive trust in TJX Europe's brands across its operating markets and locations.
Working in the Reputation & Communications Centre of Expertise, the Reputation and Engagement Communications Manager is experienced in producing and delivering clear, engaging internal and external communications plans, copy and content that are centred around the company's People & Culture Goals & Priorities; in particular, Corporate Responsibility (CR) & Sustainability, Inclusion & Diversity (I&D), Wellbeing and Development. As such, the role has knowledge and passion in these topic areas.
The role requires staying abreast of external People & Culture developments and trends within the communications and retail industries to help identify risks and opportunities for TJX Europe. The Reputation and Engagement Communications Manager has a strong internal and external network and builds effective partnerships across multiple functions, markets and agencies to get TJX Europe's messages to its core audiences. The role manages a range of agencies and internal & external partners to deliver communications plans and events and provides advice, direction and expertise to Consumer Marketing and wider functions across the business.
Key aspects of this role: strong copy and content creation skills, end-to-end project management, management, relationship management, agency management, results evaluation and budget management.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the proactive European People & Culture communications plan day-to-day, creating, editing content/copy and/or directing the agency to communicate positive stories, news, and milestones that are aligned to TJX Europe's strategic priorities and that drive awareness, engagement, trust and advocacy with current and future customers and associates, as well as wider stakeholders
Deliver proactive corporate communications plans, content and copy, in close partnership with Subject Matter Experts, to showcase TJX Europe's People & Culture strategies and initiatives, to showcase TJX Europe's commitments and build TJX Europe's profile as a great place to work and shop
Deliver People & Culture associate communications plans, content and copy, particularly for I&D, Wellbeing, and Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability to inform, inspire, involve and engage associates
Execute, working closely with HR, CR, and Consumer Marketing, the internal and external annual calendar that delivers the tactics required to deliver against the corporate and associate strategies
Deliver all associate engagement activity, including events, to support People & Culture goals and priorities, in particular for associate fundraising and donating, partnering with agencies and internal teams
Partner with the Reputation and Communications Manager (Corporate) to incorporate all relevant People & Culture content into the corporate social media channel calendar, to enhance awareness and build TJX Europe's reputation as both a great place to shop and work
Partner with the Reputation and Communications Manager (Associate) to leverage the communications community for all People & Culture communications and events
Review all relevant corporate disclosure documents, advising partners from a reputational point of view
Track and evaluate activity against rigorous KPIs to demonstrate value and conduct ways of working reviews to enable continual learning
Build an understanding of the People & Culture landscape to assist the Manager of Reputation & Communications in identifying opportunities and areas of risk
Build and maintain a database of People & Culture corporate position statements and policies and message matrices, regularly reviewing and updating them
Support the Manager of Reputation & Communications (People & Culture) in resolving People & Culture issues and crises to avoid or minimise reputational damage, collaborating with internal partners across various business functions and deputising for the Manager of European Reputation & Communications as needed
Partner across the wider Reputation & Communications team to ensure consistency across both external and internal communications calendars, delivering both internal and external content to associates and customers across owned and earned channels
Collaborate with the other Reputation & Communications Managers to share knowledge and experience, drive efficiencies, balance workloads, and enhance the capabilities and outputs of the team
Play an active role within the Reputation & Communications team, flexing to work on associate communications projects and creating and distributing associate communications as needed
Support the Manager of Reputation & Communications with budget management, including PO management, to keep costs under control and optimise performance
Develop relationships with the wider Marketing & Corporate Responsibility and Country Marketing teams to help deliver TJX Europe's proactive corporate communications plans
Partner closely with colleagues in TJX US and globally, seeking synergies and shared practices
Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Proven experience in managing internal and external communications
Experience in delivering effective integrated external and internal communications plans, content and events that inform, inspire, involve and engage associates and customers
Strong experience leading agencies and partners to deliver successful events
Experience in handling issues and reputation risks desirable. Able to manage situations calmly, professionally and with sensitivity and discretion • Highly effective communicator in English. Able to distil key information accurately and effectively, adapting tone of voice and approach for relevant stakeholder groups
Strong communication and storytelling skills. Experienced in creating content and copy for a range of target audiences, adapting writing and communication styles for various internal and external channels including press releases, company brochures, online, social media, video, presentations, email, newsletters, customer and employee facing copy
Up-to-date knowledge of the latest trends and best practices in communications, with a personal drive and ambition to continually develop • Experience working within a multi-market, matrixed consumer brand is desirable, as is knowledge or experience of working in a European business • Experience of delivering results through internal partners and agency partnerships
Strong project management skills with a proven ability to effectively organise, plan and manage to tight deadlines
Numerate and commercially astute, with a strong drive to deliver results and meticulous attention to detail
Able to quickly build and nurture relationships at all levels
