How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Service Engineer – Bolton Salary: £45,000 per annum

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Service Engineer to join a growing team based in Bolton. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer with experience working on diesel engines, generators, hydraulic systems, and plant equipment.

    The Role

    You will be responsible for maintaining a fleet of towable welfare units and telehandlers, ensuring all equipment is safe, compliant, and operating efficiently.

    Key duties include:

    * Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and servicing

    * Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults

    * Performing on-site and depot-based repairs

    * Conducting periodic examinations (LOLER)

    * Maintaining accurate service schedules and maintenance records

    * Ensuring all equipment is clean, presentable, and ready for hire

    * Assisting with repairs and maintenance of the powered access fleet when required

    What to Expect

    * Based in Bolton with nationwide travel as required

    * Most work will be carried out across the North West and Midlands

    * Occasional overnight stays in hotels will be required

    * Varied and hands-on role working both independently and as part of a team

    Requirements

    * Good working knowledge of 2–5 cylinder diesel engines

    * Experience working with generators and hydraulic systems

    * Ability to carry out basic electrical and auto-electrical fault finding

    * Proven experience building and following service and maintenance schedules

    * Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills

    * Full UK driving licence

    Desirable

    * LOLER qualification (Telehandler category) – preferred but not essential

    * Experience working on welfare units, telehandlers, powered access equipment, or similar plant machinery
