As part of its continued growth strategy, my client is seeking an experienced General Counsel to join the leadership team and provide strategic legal guidance across the organisation.
The Role
Reporting directly to senior leadership, the General Counsel will serve as the principal legal advisor to the executive team and board. The successful candidate will oversee all legal matters, ensure regulatory compliance, manage legal risk, and support the achievement of business objectives through commercially focused legal advice.
Key Responsibilities

Act as the primary legal advisor to the CEO, executive leadership team, and board of directors.

Provide strategic advice on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, and business initiatives.
*
Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, agreements, and legal documentation.
*
Ensure compliance with applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations.
*
Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks across the business.
*
Manage external legal counsel and any internal legal resources.
*
Oversee litigation, disputes, investigations, and claims involving the organisation.
*
Advise on mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and other corporate transactions.
*
Develop and maintain legal policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks.
*
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and provide guidance on potential business impacts.
Candidate Profile
My client is interested in speaking with candidates who possess:

Qualification as a solicitor, barrister, or equivalent legal professional.
*
8–15+ years of post-qualification legal experience, ideally within corporate, commercial, or industry-relevant environments.
*
Previous in-house legal experience, which is highly desirable.

Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
*
Commercial awareness and the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.
*
Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
*
Sound judgement, integrity, and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
*
The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
Salary & Benefits

£50,000 - £80,000 per annum.
