How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    School Site Manager / Caretaker - Primary School**
    **Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity | Aspire People**

    Aspire People are currently working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school who are looking to appoint an experienced **Site Manager / Caretaker** to join their team.

    The school is keen to interview suitable candidates as soon as possible, with the intention for the successful candidate to either start immediately or from the beginning of July, continuing into the new academic year in September. Initially, the role will be booked through Aspire People, with the potential opportunity to move onto a direct contract with the school in the future.

    This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive school environment where the Site Manager plays a key role in ensuring the premises remain safe, secure, well-maintained, and welcoming for pupils, staff, and visitors. The school has a strong inclusive ethos and supports a diverse pupil community, including pupils with SEND, EAL, and additional needs.

    The role would suit somebody with previous caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or site-keeping experience within a school or similar environment who takes pride in maintaining high standards across a busy primary school setting.

    **The Role Will Include:**
    * Opening and closing the school site daily and acting as a key holder
    * Ensuring the school premises are safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained
    * Carrying out general maintenance, minor repairs, and basic DIY tasks
    * Managing day-to-day site issues and liaising with contractors when specialist repairs are required
    * Monitoring and completing scheduled maintenance checks and keeping accurate records
    * Supporting health and safety compliance across the school site
    * Managing waste disposal, recycling, and ensuring outdoor areas remain safe and tidy
    * Carrying out checks linked to fire safety, legionella, asbestos awareness, and site security
    * Assisting with moving furniture and preparing rooms for school activities and events
    * Monitoring heating, lighting, water, and utility systems to ensure they remain operational
    * Supporting the wider school team to maintain a positive learning environment for pupils

    **Hours:**
    This role will involve split shifts typical within a school site management position, including early mornings and late afternoons. Approximate hours are:
    * Morning Shift: 7:00am - 9:30am
    * Afternoon Shift: 2:30pm - 6:00pm

    Additional hours for school events or maintenance may occasionally be required with prior agreement.

    **The Ideal Candidate Will Have:**
    * Previous experience working as a Site Manager, Caretaker, Facilities Assistant, or similar role
    * Experience working within a school environment or similar setting preferred
    * Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures and site maintenance
    * Good organisational skills and ability to manage workloads independently
    * Basic maintenance and DIY skills
    * Ability to work flexibly and respond calmly to day-to-day site issues
    * Strong communication skills and ability to work alongside school staff and external contractors
    * Commitment to safeguarding and maintaining a safe environment for children

    **Why Work with Aspire People?**
    * Competitive rates of pay
    * Opportunity for a long-term position with potential permanent contract
    * Support from a dedicated Aspire consultant throughout the process
    * Opportunity to join a welcoming and supportive school community
    * Interviewing immediately with the possibility to start before summer

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Manager or Caretaker looking for a rewarding long-term role within a primary school environment.
