How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Childrens Social Worker – Child Protection Team

    Plymouth Council

    Up to £45 per Hour + £150 Weekly Accommodation Allowance

    Plymouth Council is offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced Childrens Social Worker to join their Child Protection Team, with a highly competitive rate of up to £45 per hour alongside a £150 weekly accommodation allowance.

    Opportunities at this pay level within Childrens Services are limited, making this a fantastic role for experienced practitioners looking for both strong financial reward and a supportive working environment.

    This is a frontline Child Protection position suited to confident social workers with solid safeguarding experience and a strong background in court and care proceedings.

    The Role

    You will join Plymouth Council’s Child Protection Team, managing complex safeguarding cases involving children subject to Child Protection Plans, Child in Need Plans, and care proceedings. The role requires strong assessment skills, confident decision-making, and the ability to work effectively within court processes.

    Key Responsibilities

    Managing a caseload within a Child Protection Team

    Completing Child and Family Assessments

    Undertaking Section 47 investigations

    Managing Child Protection and Child in Need plans

    Preparing court reports and statements

    Attending legal meetings and court hearings

    Working closely with partner agencies to safeguard children

    Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case recording

    Essential Requirements

    Social Work England registration

    Previous experience within Childrens Services

    Strong Child Protection experience

    Essential experience with court work and care proceedings

    Ability to work on site a minimum of 3 days per week
